FS Got Talent, an event where many can showcase their hidden talents and give their passions or talents a platform. This was Fountainhead’s 2nd season of FS Got Talent and with the first one being a huge success, we were very happy to be back with a second one and hopefully continue this tradition.

Being part of the organizing committee and one of the heads of the whole event, it comes with a lot of challenges, responsibilities, strategic planning and collaboration. This gave me a chance to experience leadership, collaboration, improving my organizational skills and taking big responsibilities. I and 3 of my peers planned the whole thing from scratch which involved deciding on what segments to include (dance, singing, fashion, etc.), making the forms, getting the forms approved by higher authorities, managing the responses from the form and organizing them into particular segments, reaching out to every participant and collecting their data, arranging the right instruments/props/music to meet every candidate’s needs, decorating the event, and hosting it. All of this combined opened up my eye to the world of event management, which is not all that easy. There are a lot of restrictions, compromises and decisions to be made throughout and getting every piece approved truly requires a lot of patience.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

I consider myself to be on the weaker side when it comes to being collaborative, in many collaborative situations i find myself not being able to be very collaborative and come out as dis involved, meaning it is one of the biggest challenges i got to overcome and face, so getting the chance to experience collaboration at this scale is truly something i needed. I can happily say that this project built me as a collaborative person that is easily able to come to the same grounds as others and being equally involved by attending every meeting and every early-in, considering everyone’s decisions and ideas, and being the most involved I can be. I now can say that I have almost developed a new skill which is collaborative skills, which i truly lacked in before. I put myself out there to the greatest of my abilities and did not get dis involved when I felt like my decisions or thoughts were being overlooked during some parts of the journey.

LO3: Initiate and Plan a CAS experience

Initiate and Plan a CAS experience The CAS project took a huge initiative as many things had to be done in a short time span, i took initiative of taking things in my hands at times to ensure all the deadlines were met and we came down with a successful event. It also involved a lot of planning as well due to it being one of the grand events at school so planning was critical

LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Without the collaboration of my peers, this event most likely would have been unsuccessful. Having different ideas, thoughts, experiences, beliefs, values all are key components of having a successful event in my opinion. With involvement and ideas of others, we get to see the different outlooks on things that we initially wouldn’t have thought of because we carry our own sets of values and beliefs. Also, managing an event consisting of grade 7 to grade 12 requires more than one person as there are many responsibilities that need to be handled which a single person would be overwhelmed with, so having a team with you lowers stress and ensures everything gets done on time. A plus that comes with this is the timeless and endless memories me and my peers have ended up making, the fun, stress and waking up early we have done together to complete this has made the journey ten times more enjoyable. I truly think I have learned a lot from my peers and the experience of working together and every time something has gone wrong, we’ve always worked together to ensure it’s dealt with.

LO7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Decorating the whole event and making it look pleasing to the eye, I did not want to harm the already ‘hurt’ environment and look for ways I can contribute in making sustainable decisions and live a somewhat sustainable life. I initiated and stated clearly that all the resources used to make the decorations, writings and planning of the event would be done with the help of reusable materials to the greatest extent possible. We made use of pre-used papers and newspapers from the school to decorate the event, we even ensured food wastage at the event by giving all the event food stalls the attendee size before hand so they can prepare accordingly and ensured only reusable material was used while serving the food. We made the best out of waste, I would say. In this day and age, where we should be doing everything possible to help the environment, this was a major thing that had to be done to understand the responsibilities we have as the people of earth.
