FSMUN 10.0

MUN, or Model United Nations, was a world unknown to me  few years ago. Stepping into a room filled with passionate delegates, it was terrifying. FSMUN is a platform where our and other school students participate together and debate real life issues. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience that helped me develop my public speaking skills and critical thinking skills. Through MUN, I was able to engage in meaningful discussion and broaden my understanding of global affairs. This experience allowed me to interact with people and collaborate on making resolutions who were all from diverse perspectives.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

The initial challenge was transforming myself from a quiet observer to a confident speaker. As public speaking wasn’t exactly my strength. But MUN pushed me outside my comfort zone.researching complex issues, and anticipating arguments. However, through consistent participation in MUNs, I realised that my greatest strengths are in researching complex issues and understanding the perspectives of various delegates. While these skills remain an area of strength I need to develop further,MUN pushed me to start identifying ways to overcome this challenges and develop areas of growth.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

MUN topics involved international diplomacy, climate policy, or economic disparities subjects. I had little prior experience, but initially the so much information was overwhelming, but as I stepped my foot in these challenges, I developed new research skills, as not always I was able to find valid information, but after the MUN I got to learn about my challenges and developing them in the whole experience,Beyond this skills it helped me refine my teamwork and collaboration skills because each resolution required to work with other delegate which suggested that negotiating, finding common group and adapting to different ideas this helped to develop my new skills such as being open-minded, having social skills and being able to problem solve by making resolution in the committee with other delegates. The MUN helped with finding the challenges and how can I develop them while finding new skills in the process.

LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

To be able to be a be a part of MUN, it requires commitment and perseverance, because participating in MUNs is very long and overwhelming, with research, debate, and negotiation taking up a significant amount of time. There were times when my preparations and some extensive research felt exhausting; however, I was able to manage my time and was dedicated to developing my skills. This perseverance helped me to contribute meaningfully to discussions and engage more in the committee. Overall, the experience taught me the importance of time management and dedication in achieving success in any attempt. Through MUN, I was able to improve my public speaking skills and gain a deeper understanding of global issues.
