FSMUN 10.0 Project 2023 as OC Head – Creativity

In this project, I was expected to be the head of the organizing committee to manage the finances of the event. I was guiding a team of committee members to manage the finances of the event such as the food, transport, delegation fees, delegate kits, EB kits, and thank you gifts for the guests. We had to manage the budget, estimate prices for decor and logistics, bargain with suppliers, and get partnerships and look into maximizing the profit for the event.

On the event day, I had to make sure that everything was functioning smoothly all the guests and delegates were comfortable and the event went perfectly. I had to take care of their needs and the emergencies on the event day.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth AND LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Leadership has been a strength of mine and I got to practice that by leading a team of organizing committee members in the finance department of the event. I had to plan the event while collaborating with the other 7 members of the core committee and developing in the area of cooperation and working as a team.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Because we were 30 people managing 320 guests, it was a big challenge for us to manage the event while tending to everyone’s needs. This was a big challenge and we developed collaboration and communication skills in the event. We learned to communicate effectively in times of emergencies and collaborate each other to meet everybody’s requirements. I also developed time-management skills while balancing my studies with the time for planning the event.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

This project involved a lot of self-management skills where I had to set deadlines for myself to complete my experience. Moreover, planning of the event was also done like how the on-day event would look like, and how I would manage the organizing comittee and the delegates, took a lot of planning.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS

The planning and execution of the event were time-consuming and exhausting. I started my duty as the Finance head at the start of September which I had to continue till the event days which was at the end of December. We were required to come in early in school to plan the event and its details which required my perseverance and commitment.

LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

The skills that I developed/showcased through this project –

  • Communicators – I had to communicate with a lot of people during this event which is the organizing team, the events team, the transport team, the food teams, and more.
  • Balances – I had to maintain a balance between my studies and the event during and outside school hours.
