Global odyssey 2024 (Creativity & Service)
As part of the Business Management curriculum, we organize The Global Odyssey annually to showcase our learning through a vibrant event. It serves as the culmination of our year’s efforts, featuring a business fair, food stalls, and a joyful atmosphere. I took on the role of head of the food team, where I gained valuable experience in organizing, time management, and leadership.
LO1
With my knowledge of food and business fairs, I utilized my expertise to guide the food team in making informed decisions about feasible food options, pricing, and quantities. I provided strategic advice to ensure effective planning and resource management. Additionally, I actively participated in running a food stall, where I used my skills to prepare and sell vada pavs and strawberry lemonade. My experience allowed me to assist my teammates in selecting, preparing, and managing their food offerings effectively.
LO2
As both a team member and a leader, I was responsible for relaying messages, updates, and reminders to ensure smooth coordination. I also assisted teachers who played a significant role in organizing the event. Initially, managing a large group and ensuring everything ran efficiently was challenging. However, as time progressed, we worked collaboratively to overcome these obstacles and successfully execute the event.
LO3
To ensure a well-structured and seamless event, I began by brainstorming and strategizing with my team. We considered essential factors such as time, food selection, budgeting, ingredient sourcing, and the expected number of attendees. Every decision was made thoughtfully to accommodate all stakeholders effectively. Beyond my team, I also assisted others in finalizing their food choices. As the event approached, I took the initiative to remind participants about preparations and maintained oversight of the overall progress. This experience significantly enhanced my organizational and time management skills.
LO4
Organizing The Global Odyssey required significant dedication and perseverance. As head of the food team, I had to manage multiple responsibilities, from coordinating with my team members to ensuring food stalls operated efficiently. Despite facing challenges such as time constraints, workload management, and last-minute changes, I remained committed to my role. There were moments of exhaustion, but I continued pushing forward because I understood the importance of teamwork and discipline. My dedication to the event helped ensure that everything ran smoothly and that all stakeholders had a positive experience.
LO5
Working as part of a team was essential in making the event a success. Since the food section involved multiple stalls and participants, effective communication and teamwork were crucial. I worked closely with my team members, ensuring that tasks were divided efficiently and that everyone was contributing their best efforts. Through discussions and shared responsibilities, we managed to create a well-organized and dynamic food section. Additionally, I collaborated with other teams, such as logistics and finance, to ensure smooth coordination across all areas. This experience reinforced the importance of teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving in achieving a common goal.
LO6
A portion of the revenue generated from our food, photography, and game stalls was donated to an NGO dedicated to supporting underprivileged children by providing them with essential resources. Knowing that our collective efforts contributed to a meaningful cause brought immense fulfillment. This initiative reinforced our commitment to social responsibility and community welfare, highlighting the impact we can make through thoughtful action and generosity.
