IBDP VA/Film exhibition is a part of assessment for the arts subjects offered. During this exhibition, the students present the works created by them throughout 2 years of their IBDP Journey. Along with which, their display of curatorial and artistic intentions.

During Grade 11, I was given the opportunity to organise the exhibition from planning to decor ideas, coordinating with team member, to coordinating with students. During the process, we had to allocate grade 11 students to grade 12 students for helping them out, creating invitation card design, seeking approval, sending communication e-mails,etc. Moreover, ensuring that the Grade 12 students have all the necessary items and resources that they require for display.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Here my teammate and I identified the tasks we were supposed to do based on strength and weaknesses in order to ensure that the event runs smoothly. Moreover, while organising this event, I developed my communication skills as the whole event required a lot of communication with various people, being it seeking approval, communicating with decor people, etc.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.

There were a lot of challenges that we faced while planning such as reiterations in invitations which took us a lot of time, print errors, issues in putting up displays and many more. However, by taking help from each other and other teammates, we managed to solve these challenges before the event begins so that the flow of event is not hindered.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

This required a lot of planning and management where we had to plan the whole exhibition from start till removing the displays as well. Moreover it required constantly updating everyone of their tasks, making changes spontaneously, assigning roles to others and ensuring that the tasks are finished.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.

Though many challenges took place all while, staying focused to it and completing all the tasks was my main goal. Though last minute changes were there and had to work on it during the weekend along with other deadlines, I tried my best to manage time in order to get done with the work I had taken up.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

Lastly, the event required a lot of collaboration and idea sharing which made it successful. As challenges came up, with team work we were easily able to solve it and help each other out. While planning as well, we ensured that the tasks given to each other can be easily achieved by the other person.
