Rock Climbing

I participated in 6 rock climbing sessions organised by my school from 18th Jan to 15th Feb 2024. In each session, we had to climb the obstacle course twice, and had to help out others while it was their turn too. During the period, I had grown more confident and courageous to try out rock climbing. In the beginning, I could only climb till a certain point and then I come down, although, by the last session, I had reached the top of the course and came back down with a smile, as I reached the top.

LO 1: Identify own strengths and areas of growth

At the beginning of my rock climbing journey, I could only reach a certain height before feeling overwhelmed and retreating back down. However, I committed to improving with each session, pushing myself to climb a little higher each time. By staying committed to this goal, I learned to manage my nerves and push through moments of doubt. Gradually, my perseverance paid off, and in the final session, I successfully reached the top of the course. The journey highlighted how consistent effort and a determined mindset can help me overcome personal challenges.

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Rock climbing also allowed me to develop new skills, both physically and mentally. I gained practical skills like better grip techniques, balance, and foot placement, which were essential for managing the wall. I also worked on building mental resilience, pushing myself to try again after each challenging climb and working through my fear of heights. By supporting my peers and receiving guidance from them, I gained valuable insights that helped me improve over time. The growth I experienced during these six sessions gave me confidence in my ability to acquire and refine skills, showing me that progress comes with dedication and openness to learning.
