For Rural Immersion, we went to Lachhakadi. It is a small village in gujarat where we engaged in many activities like farming, painting walls, played with local children, helped in pickle factory, and in turmeric and bamboo farms. The trip was very fun as I enhanced a lot of skills and learnt so many new things, that I wouldn’t have otherwise.

LO 5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Collaboration was a significant part of this trip, as every activity required us to work together. Painting walls, for instance, involved coordinating with others on color choices, patterns, and keeping our design in sync. When we helped in the pickle factory, we divided tasks and adjusted to each other’s strengths to complete the work efficiently. Working side by side with friends and local community members taught me how to contribute effectively, communicate, and respect others’ input. I learned how rewarding it could be to achieve a common goal through combined efforts.

LO 6: Engagement with issues of global significance.

This trip pushed me out of my comfort zone as I encountered various unfamiliar tasks. Farming, for instance, required patience and a keen sense of timing, neither of which came easily to me. I initially found it hard to adapt to the physical work involved in planting and harvesting, but through determination and guidance from local farmers, I overcame my hesitations and learned a lot about their methods. Each challenge taught me resilience and adaptability, enhancing my problem-solving abilities and helping me realize the importance of hard work.

LO 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Interacting with the villagers and learning about their way of life fostered a deep sense of open-mindedness. Their daily routines, values, and perspectives on sustainability gave me insights into a different approach to life. By playing with the local children and engaging with people who had such different lifestyles and experiences, I grew more appreciative and respectful of diverse cultures. This experience made me more mindful of my actions and the impact they have on others, reinforcing the ethics of respect and understanding.
