Rural Immersion – Kada Dam Jambughoda

Rural immersion trip was organized by school for 6 days where our section was taken to Kada Dam Jambughoda. Living in an Rural area for 6 days was completing a new experience coming with learning new things that we have heard about but never tried. The trip was initiated by school with a purpose to make students live the rural lifestyle and learn new skills. During this trip, I exhibited each of the three CAS stands Creativity, Activity, and Service. Also during the whole trip there were activities which caters CAS strands such as basket making, pottery, farming, trekking, zipline. The whole trip was a memorable one but the moments which were the most fun were going to local school and spending time with them. The visit to the Kada Dam.

L2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

On each of the day we have done something new meaning that a new challenge comes in a new day. On the first day, we went to the local families of the area where we interacted with them to know about their lifestyle ,earning and more. The major challenges which we faced during this was lack of communication since the people over there a bit shy to communicate with us but our group teacher started to talk with them to know about their lives then slowly they were also being a comfortable sharing with us. When talking about developing new skills on all of the days there were new skills which we learnt such as farming, basket making, milking, cleaning, pottery. While doing farming I became aware of the value of farming and the amount of labor that goes into producing a product. Additionally, we saw the process of milking and the considerate care and attention given to every cow. Also when doing pottery, we require a lot of patience since the process require a lot of attention towards the product or else it might go wrong. Also we learnt cooking skills, one of the day we had to prepare dinner for ourself. We had 5 groups made and each of the group had to make one dish to complete 1 full menu and my team was assigned with making Dal. The maharaj over there really helped us a lot in making the food and thought us how it is made.

L6 : Engagement with issues of global significance

During this trip we connected on several UN SDGs, such as quality education ,good health and wellbeing ,reduced inequalities. When talking about Quality education we visited a local school to teach and play with the students. In the school where we visited the students were very kind towards us, they were very friendly and had the enthusiasm to learn from us. We taught them a several new games which we used to play and also we learned a few more games from them which they use to play. The interaction with them was very fruitful since we all enjoyed spending some time with them and they were also very happy to spend time with us and learn new things. Also we interacted with the local families in the area to get to know about their lifestyle and after speaking with them, we found that there is a significant difference in the lives of rural and urban populations, although we have more resources, the rural people are happy about what they have than we have. The people who lived there lacked a proper living, adequate light and water, and lack of education. This demonstrates that we must put in a lot of effort to find solutions to these issues.

L7. Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Since I was a little child, I have been taught to be satisfied with and thankful for what I have, and after learning about the village people’s life on this trip, I realized that even though they have fewer resources and advantages, they lead happy lives. They are not wealthy, therefore they have a lot of problems, yet even as they talked to us about them, they were smiling. I discovered that instead of always complaining, we should learn to be grateful with what we have. I think we can learn a lot from the way of life of the villagers, and this trip taught me a lot of valuable life lessons that might help me become a better person.
. This trip taught me to value the food, place we get to live, water, money and many other things which are provided to us also it made me thankful for what all I got.
