Sports Tournaments ISSO

As a part of my CAS experience I participated in school tournaments for my sport football. A major tournament in which I participated was the ISSO Football Tournament held at Jayshree Periwal International School in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The tournament was between 1st September to 5th September 2023. I was selected to play the position of Goalkeeper in the 11 members of the squad along with a total of 15 other teammates at other positions.

1 month before the Tournament began we were required to attend early morning training sessions from August 1st to 30th August 2023. This was a complete shift in my shedule as I usually woke up later as I did not have any classes early in the morning. Nevertheless, I perseved and woke up early each day to prepare for the tournament. During the training sessions we would do various drills intended to bring us to our best form by the tournament, the drills also helped me get to know my teammates better which helped develop coordination that was essential to our progress in the tournament.

By taking part in school tournaments such as the ISSO I intended to achieve the following learning goals.

  • Learning Outcome 1 (Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth).
  • Learning Outcome 2 ( Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills)

On a daily basis as a Goalkeeper I would demonstrate my strength of shot-stopping and also identified a area of development in the form of ball distribution. Hence I developed new skills in the form of communication with teammates during matches and ball distribution. This led to the development of Learning Outcomes 1 and Learning Outcome 2.

  • Learning Outcome 5 (Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.)

Moreover, I used effective communication with my teammates during matches to deal with oncoming attacks and effectively deal with them, leading to success for our team. This led to the achievement of Learning Goal 5 as we collaborated and showcased benefits in the form of victories for our team.

In summary, this CAS experience was quite beneficial as it was for a sport that I enjoyed, I travelled to a different city and played a tournament that I throughly enjoyed this also helped me achieve 3 different learning outcomes.
