When I was ten years old, I started learning table tennis and have made it a hobby ever since. I’ve been playing this sport for years and have developed my skills nicely. I enjoy participating in events where I can practise my skills. ISSO was one such tournament. Playing in front of so many people pushed me out of my comfort zone and gave me the confidence to continue playing this sport and competing in future tournaments.
LO 1: Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.
Playing against different players who each had their unique way of playing and approaching each ball made me also earn to counter against different playing styles. It aided me to learn about my areas of weakness that I could improve upon. It also showed me my strength and what elements of the sport I am good at. These encounters helped me realise my potential and what things I need to focus on the next time I play in order to improve my skill set.
LO 2:Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
Over the course of this tournament, I came across many players who were far better at the sport that I was, having more experience and exposure to such environments. Competing against these players was indeed a challenge. Carefully observing their style and way of playing taught me new skills in the process. These newly observed skills helped me apply them in other games and gain a few points as well. overall, taking on this challenge really helped me extend my limits and made me realise by abilities and potential if I worked hard.
