Garba is not just a dance; it’s a celebration of life, love, and unity. Originating from the state of Gujarat, India, Garba is traditionally performed during the nine-day festival of Navratri, honoring the Hindu goddess Durga. Garba Fest brought together students, teachers, and members of the school community to partake in this cultural extravaganza. The venue was full of colorful decorations, traditional lanterns, and festive lights, creating an ambiance of joy and excitement. Stalls offering a variety of delicious Indian delicacies, refreshing drinks, and snacks added to the festive atmosphere.

As a part of the CAS experience i held a stall of coco, which was very successful, being one of the only stalls selling refreshed beverages. It helped others to cope up with the heat, and also from being tired from garba. Also we got to take part of the cultural dance, and played Garba a lot in the end and danced a lot during the event as well.

LO3 – [Initiating and Planning a CAS experience]

Event coordination was key, planning logistics such as venue arrangement, stall setup, and music arrangements, students took on various roles, demonstrating their planning and organizational skills. Also as a member who had a stall prepared, we had to carefully plan the amount of utensils we bring to serve customers and product to ensure it doesn’t go to waste. Through dedication and careful planning, we successfully laid the groundwork for a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity.

LO5 – [Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively]

Students, teachers, and volunteers pooled their management and thinking skills and resources, each contributing to the event’s success. By dedicating themselves fully to the event, preparing daily in early mornings. During the event I had a stall mate that was also very helpful and was committed and worked hard. Whenever I wasn’t available to take care of the stall, he would always be there taking care of it. Like that we during the end periods of the event, we took turns on looking on the stall, so that we can also enjoy the event.

We also made great sustainable efforts by ensuring all the cutlery and utensils are reusable, recylable. Any waste was recycled. We used reusable plates, glasses, and utensils at the food stalls to minimize single-use plastic waste. Waste bins were strategically placed for recycling, ensuring responsible waste disposal.
