Global Odyssey, one of the largest events in FS, began and finished with excitement. This program empowers students tо create entrepreneurial aptitudes and gain a more profound understanding оf the real world issues. I had kept a food stall and earned a decent amount of profit by successfully applying the concepts of business management and economics.
LO 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
It was enlightening to set up the food stand for the Global Odyssey project. It helped me identify areas for development, such as time management, even as I developed a talent for problem-solving on the spot. I’m motivated to grow personally as a result of this self-reflection on my project’s strengths and shortcomings, and I was eager to explore how I can improve these abilities.
LO2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Organizing the food stall has helped me to evolve myself, and helped me develop myself while facing the challenges. My ability to solve problems was useful throughout the entire process. It did, however, also highlighted several areas of improvement, such as time management. This introspection about my advantages and disadvantages has stoked my drive to grow personally. I can’t wait to use these abilities in more advanced events.
LO 3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience
Following the briefing on the event, we began the planning for the global odyssey in our BM slots. I knew right away during the briefing that I wanted to continue with the food stall and I could utilize my Business management and economic concepts efficiently to maximize the profit. We had a group of 4 on each stall, I decided my pairs to collaborate with and started planning about the things we could keep on our stall and decided their prices, we decided to change the pricing as the demand of the product increases to generate more profit, and we also added posters on our stall to make it look more decorative and for consumer attraction.
LO 5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Throughout this project, I learned a lot about the importance of collaboration. We worked together to prepare the food items and sell them to our customers, we assigned roles to each group member and tried to prepare the dish as soon as possible for the customers, we also collaborated and made posters for our stall together. We also prepared a spreadsheet for organizing our work as a group, which made our planning much more easier and helped us to get the target revenue.
To sum up, taking part in the Global Odyssey initiative was a worthwhile educational opportunity. It gave me the opportunity to support a worthwhile cause in addition to giving me a better understanding of my areas of strength, like problem-solving, and growth, like time management. Most significantly, even though we had to handle the incoming clients, the learner profile thinkers assisted me by pushing me beyond of my comfort zone and think for innovative solutions to challeneges we faced, welcoming them to my stand. Creative thinking skills helped us to develop unique and appealing menu items that the broad audience liked. This experience taught me the value of teamwork, tenacity, and flexibility—skills I know will help me in my future undertakings. My personal development was accelerated by the Global Odyssey program, and I’m excited to see how I can keep refining these abilities as I take on new challenges.
