11th to 16th December 2023
| Rural Immersion was a 6 day trip to Kadadam, near Jambughoda. Here we performed many activities related to creativity, activity and service. In this trip we learned about many things. This trip helped us experience how we can live naturally and near nature without any gadgets for 6 full days. In this trip we experienced things like, trekking, basket making, making dinner, visiting local schools and playing with those children, visiting their local market, visiting the public hospital there and knowing about the disease they are facing since generations, visiting gaushala, getting water out of well and many more things. Moreover, the most interesting thing was we interacted with the locals living there. Knowing about their lives and how they live was an eye opener for us. Overall, this trip helped us grow as an individual. I also showcased the learner profile communicator here because I was Gujarati and people speaking Gujarati were very much required there because the villagers mostly used to understand Gujarati, so I was also the leader for my team. Therefore, for any activity I ensure about the communication that was supposed to happen between all. |
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
There were a lot of challenges taken during this trip. The biggest challenge that we faced was of cleanliness. The place where we used to stay was not very clean especially the washrooms. We also did not get hot water to bath with. But this prepared us to accept problems that come through in life. Moreover, while going to the Gaushala I was very scared but still I took the challenge and I went inside from between the cows. Going for the trekking was also a huge task for me because I used to get tired very easily. But all of this helped me develop skills and confidence.
LO6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
On this trip we tried to stay as sustainable as we could. We lived on the outskirts of the city where there was no pollution. Farming at nearby fields in small groups was an engagement activity with the issue of global significance. For traveling to near places we used to walk and go so that there was less pollution.
LO7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
We made sure that we were polite and used proper language in front of the villagers. While we went to the school, we made sure that we were polite with the small children and did not use any abusive words. We did not perform any unethical actions towards anyone who was on the trip.
