In december for the span of seven we visited a village in gujarat. The whole grade was divided in the groups of 4. I visited the village “Lachhakadi”. Over there we did many activities and services which also involved creativity such as farming, painting the wall of the school,picking up ginger and more. The trip to lachhakdi really helped us in many ways by stepping out of our urban surroundings and going to the roots of the rural lifestyle. We also connected and interacted with the locals which gave a us their viewpoints on the lifestyle they are living and the ways in which they are overcoming their problems.It was also an eye-opening experience by looking at their problem management strategy with the minimal use of the resources which I have never seen in my urban surroundings.

L1. Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

In this CAS trip I was able to identify my area of strength which is art and craft by painting the walls and gate of the school to make it look more aesthetically pleasing. The wall before the paint looked simple and little bit unappealing due to the marks on the it. But after painting it the marks were covered and look it looked pretty nice. At the end when the kids came to see the painted walls and gate they were so happy by looking at the finally result.

L3. Initiate and plan a CAS experience

During this trip we were allocated time period to plan enjoyable activities and games for the underprivileged children. Here we got divided into groups where we planned different activities and games for them. The pre planning helped us to not waste single minute and directly start the games and activities maximise the fun.

L4. Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience and L5. Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

We also had to do farming in this trip and not only farming for one particular crop but different ones. Through this activity of farming I showed commitment and perseverance by completing the amount of task given to me and group. This is because it was so sunny due to which it became hard for us to be motivated and hydrated all the time to do farming. Here working in groups really helped because the work also got much easier and was able to complete the task much faster.

L6. Engagement with issues of global significance

During the interaction with the locals over shared meals provided us with light on the global issue such as climate change and deforestation. They also talked about the impact of environmental degradation on their livelihoods. By hearing their steps taken by them to minimise the impact and its reaction on it made us reflect on our role in addressing the global challenges beyond classroom discussion.

L7. Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

while understanding the global issue of the climate change and deforestation. It also made us reflect and think critically on the ethics our choices and actions. As to how our small steps can have such a huge impact on the environment and result into such a negative result.

At the end, this was the best CAS trip overall as we not only had fun but also learned regarding the porblems faced by the locals living in the rural area as well as we also came out of the comfort zone and did farming which was very new to us.
